Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating whether Lingoda misled consumers about its recurring subscription charges and required customers to continue paying subscription fees to access language classes they had already purchased.
Lingoda is an online language-learning platform that offers live classes through recurring subscription plans. Unlike traditional monthly subscriptions, Lingoda’s plans generally renew every four weeks, or 28 days.
Consumers purchase subscriptions that provide credits for booking language classes. Unused credits may accumulate when subscribers do not schedule all of their available lessons.
However, consumers have reported that they cannot use previously purchased class credits after cancelling their subscriptions unless they resume paying for an active subscription.
In one October 2026 complaint, a consumer alleged that cancelling a subscription prevented access to previously purchased classes. Lingoda responded that an active subscription was required to access or book classes using existing credits.
Another consumer reported purchasing approximately 40 lessons without understanding that continued subscription payments would be necessary to use them.
Consumers have also expressed confusion about Lingoda’s 28-day billing cycle, which causes renewal dates to shift earlier on the calendar from month to month.
These practices raise questions about whether Lingoda adequately discloses the conditions attached to purchased class credits and the recurring charges required to access them.
Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether Lingoda consumers paid for classes they could not use without making additional subscription payments or were misled about the frequency of recurring charges.
Consumers Report:
- Losing access to unused class credits after cancelling subscriptions;
- Being required to reactivate paid subscriptions to use previously purchased classes;
- Accumulating unused credits while continuing to pay recurring fees;
- Not understanding that purchased classes required an active subscription;
- Unexpected renewal dates because of Lingoda’s 28-day billing cycle; or
- Difficulty obtaining refunds for unused classes or subscription charges.
Potential Claims May Include:
- Misleading representations concerning purchased class credits;
- Failure to adequately disclose restrictions on using prepaid classes;
- Inadequate disclosure of recurring billing frequency;
- Violations of applicable automatic renewal laws; or
- Unfair or deceptive subscription practices.

- You accumulated unused class credits during your subscription;
- You could not access or book previously purchased classes after cancelling;
- You were required to pay additional subscription fees to use existing credits;
- You experienced unexpected charges because of the 28-day renewal cycle; or
