Ki Mobility Rogue and Rogue2 Rear Wheel Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports that Ki Mobility Rogue and Rogue2 wheelchairs may experience failures involving components that secure, connect, or position the rear wheels.

Consumers have reported problems involving the rear-wheel, camber, and tower areas of these wheelchairs, including adjustment hardware becoming loose or moving out of position during use. Particularly concerning reports involve rear wheels becoming unstable or separating from the wheelchair and camber components breaking while the chair is moving.

Information associated with one reported failure indicates that a corrective and preventive action was opened and that an implicated component was subsequently redesigned to make it stronger and subjected to fatigue and drop testing. Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether owners of Ki Mobility Rogue wheelchairs containing earlier components experienced recurring failures and whether they received an adequate repair or replacement.

Consumers Report:

  • screws or adjustment components repeatedly becoming loose;
  • rear-wheel or camber adjustments moving out of position;
  • problems involving tower-system components;
  • rear wheels becoming loose, unstable, or separating from the chair;
  • camber tubes or related components cracking or breaking; and
  • falls or loss of stability following a component failure.

A failure involving the components supporting a Ki Mobility Rogue wheelchair’s rear wheels can be particularly serious because users depend on those components to remain secure throughout everyday movement.

Potential Claims May Include:

  • defective design;
  • defective components;
  • breach of warranty;
  • failure to adequately disclose a component weakness;
  • failure to provide affected owners with an adequately strengthened replacement component; and
  • unfair or deceptive trade practices.

Signs You May Be Affected:

  • You own or previously owned a Ki Mobility Rogue or Rogue2 wheelchair;
  • components around the rear wheel, camber, or tower system repeatedly became loose;
  • a rear wheel became unstable or separated from the chair;
  • a tower-system component cracked, fractured, or required replacement;
  • your camber tube cracked or snapped; or
  • you received replacement rear-wheel or tower-system components after experiencing problems.
