Migliaccio & Rathod is involved in the HUB International Limited data breach investigation.
Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the HUB International Limited (“HUB”) data breach investigation, for a data breach affecting 514,477 individuals and their personal information.
On January 17, 2023, HUB noticed suspicious activity within its computer network. HUB launched a subsequent investigation, where it learned that a cyber-criminal had accessed its network and copied consumer files between December 12, 2022, and January 17, 2023. The compromised information includes names, Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, and financial account information.
HUB informed potentially affected consumers of the breach on August 11, 2023, via a mailed notice letter, and it has recently notified the Maine Attorney General’s Office that the investigation into the cyberattack is now complete. Nonetheless, all of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
