Commerce Insurance Company (MAPFRE Insurance) Data Breach Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating the Commerce Insurance Company (MAPFRE Insurance), for a data breach of 266,142 individuals’ personal information. Between July 1 and July 2, 2023, an unauthorized third party breached the company’s computer system, stealing individual’s personal information, including driver’s license information. The company recently began informing individuals of this breach with a notification issued on August 22, 2023. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical or government services ordered in their name, to their personal information posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls, and emails received.
