Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating the 2022 Subaru BRZ Clogged Oil Filter issue. Owners report that RTV silicone gets into the oil pickup filter and gradually clogs the filter. The RTV may also make its way into the engine itself, further starving the engine of oil. This presents problems for the engine because less oil intake means less lubrication of its internal components. An engine with inadequate oil intake is at risk of overheating and eventual engine failure. The 2022 Subaru BRZ’s counterpart, the Toyota GR86, also suffers from the same silicone issue. This should not be surprising given the vehicles are the result of a joint development between Toyota and Subaru.
