Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating the New Mexico based healthcare nonprofit First Choice Community Healthcare Inc. (“First Choice”) for disclosing patient data in an unauthorized security breach. Hackers may have seized any or all of the following information: patient names, Social Security numbers, First Choice patient ID number, diagnosis and clinical treatment information, medications, dates of service, health insurance information, medical record number, patient account number, date of birth, and provider information.
First Choice discovered the breach on March 27, 2022, but only began notifying affected individuals on August 1. As result, hackers may have already been able to sell the data or otherwise benefit from the fraudulent misuse of such information. People affected by the data breach may have already noticed (or may soon notice) one or more of the following types of fraudulent activity related to their personal and health information: unauthorized credit card inquiries or charges, requests for loans or benefits in an individual’s name without their consent, fake medical procedures ordered, or disrupted use of the institution’s website.
