Final Approval Granted in Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 Settlement

 

On December 14, 2020, the Honorable Winifred Y. Smith granted final approval of a deceptive practices class action settlement in Lai v. TCL Communication, Inc. et al., case No. HG19034532 (California Superior Court – Alameda County). Plaintiff alleged that the TCL greatly reduced the functionality of the Idol 3 Smartphones by removing LTE Band 12 functionality in a software update. Per the terms of the settlement, available here on the settlement website, if you reside in the United States, excluding the States of North Carolina or Kentucky, and purchased either an Alcatel OneTouch Idol 3 4.7 or 5.5 inch smartphone during the time period of January 1, 2015 – December 27, 2016, you are a Class Member and may be eligible to make a claim. In order to partake in the benefit of this settlement agreement, you must submit your claim form no later than July 24, 2021.
