Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating the phone and internet company TruConnect for a data breach. In February of 2022, an unauthorized actor gained access to TruConnect Systems. This actor may have gained access to customer records, including Social Security Numbers (SSNs). On approximately November 10, 2022, TruConnect discovered the issue and began investigating. TruConnect has shared very little information with its customers or the public at large, so the full implications of this breach remain unknown.
TruConnect has only recently reported the issue to state attorneys general. They have also started notifying customers of this issue. Given how long it has been since the breach, cybercriminals may have already been able to sell the data or otherwise benefit from the fraudulent misuse of such information. People affected by the data breach may have already noticed (or may soon notice) one or more of the following types of fraudulent activity related to their personal: unauthorized credit card inquiries or charges, requests for loans or benefits in an individual’s name without their consent.
