Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating Gearbox Software LLC and Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. for complaints that their video game Borderlands 3 causes Xbox One X consoles to overheat, rendering the game unplayable for any extended period. Since its release on September 13th, 2019, customers have complained that the game will shut-off without warning and oftentimes cause the entire console to lose power. Such customers say that afterwards their console will be hot to the touch and require a cool-down period before it can restart. Publisher 2K Games, a subsidiary of Take-Two Interactive, went as far as to tell customers who submitted an early complaint that the development team was working on a fix for the issue. However, almost a year has passed since the game’s release and many customers continue to experience the issue. Some say they are able to play the game for an hour before it shuts down; others say they can only play for five minutes. Others still cannot even get the game to boot up without crashing. One user on the Gearbox Software support forums reported that their console once crashed seven times in one day. Similar threads reveal that even users who initially did not have the problem began to experience similar issues upon installing additional downloadable content (DLC).
