Byrna Pepper Projectile and Magazine Failure Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating potential defects affecting Byrna pepper projectiles, training projectiles, and launcher magazines, including reports of projectiles deteriorating during storage and interfering with the launcher’s ability to function properly.

Some Byrna owners have reported that pepper or training projectiles crack, break apart, or leak powder while stored in their magazines. The loose powder and deteriorated projectiles may interfere with magazine springs, prevent ammunition from feeding correctly, or require owners to replace projectiles and magazines. Consumer reports describing these problems have appeared between 2023 and 2026.

Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether certain Byrna projectiles deteriorate prematurely under normal storage conditions, potentially damaging magazines and preventing owners from reliably using their launchers.

Owners May Have Experienced:

  • Pepper or training projectiles cracking, breaking, or deteriorating during storage;
  • Powder leaking from projectiles inside magazines;
  • Magazine springs becoming clogged or obstructed by loose powder;
  • Projectiles failing to feed properly into the launcher;
  • Having to clean or replace damaged magazines; or
  • Purchasing replacement projectiles because existing ammunition deteriorated.

Potential Claims May Include:

  • Defective projectile materials or manufacturing;
  • Breach of express or implied warranties;
  • Failure to disclose known product defects;
  • Improper denial of warranty coverage; or
  • Violations of state consumer protection laws.

Signs You May Be Affected:

  • You purchased Byrna pepper or training projectiles;
  • You stored Byrna projectiles in a launcher magazine;
  • Your projectiles cracked, leaked powder, or deteriorated during storage;
  • Your magazine stopped feeding projectiles properly;
  • You incurred costs replacing projectiles, magazines, or other components; or
  • You purchased Byrna products from a physical retail store or independent dealer.
