Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating a battery software defect affecting certain 2026 Toyota C-HR electric vehicles that may cause the vehicle to unexpectedly lose propulsion.
The defect is associated with programming that may allow the vehicle’s traction battery to become overcharged under certain driving conditions. If this occurs, the electric drive system can shut down, potentially causing the vehicle to lose motive power while being driven.
Toyota reported approximately 8,521 affected vehicles under Recall 26V570, filed in September 2026.
Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether affected C-HR owners have experienced unexpected shutdowns, EV-system warnings, towing, battery problems, or difficulty obtaining an effective repair.
Owners May Have Experienced:
- An EV-system or battery warning;
- Unexpected loss of drive power;
- The electric drive system shutting down;
- Problems charging or operating the vehicle;
- Towing or an unexpected dealership visit; or
- Difficulty obtaining or completing the recall repair.
Potential Claims May Include:
- Defective battery-management software;
- Breach of warranty;
- Failure to provide a timely and adequate remedy;
- Loss of use;
- Diminished vehicle value; and
- Violations of applicable consumer-protection laws.
Signs You May Be Affected:
- You own or lease a 2026 Toyota C-HR EV;
- Your vehicle is included in Recall 26V570;
- Your vehicle displayed an EV-system or battery warning;
- Your vehicle unexpectedly lost propulsion;
- Your vehicle required towing or battery-related repairs; or
- Your dealer has been unable to fully resolve the problem.
