Travel Credit Replacing Cash Refund Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating whether travel platforms improperly substitute cash refunds with platform credits, short-expiration credits, or travel wallets.

What Consumers Report

Consumers report:

  • Canceling hotel, flight, or rental bookings.
  • Being promised refunds.
  • Receiving platform credit instead of cash.
  • Receiving credits with short expiration periods.
  • Being unable to use credits for equivalent travel.

Potentially affected platforms may include Super.com, Agoda, Traveluro, Booking.com, Expedia, Priceline, Hopper, and similar travel booking sites.

Why Consumers Should Be Concerned

Cash refunds and platform credits are not the same. Credits may expire, be limited to one platform, or force consumers to buy travel they no longer need.

Potential claims may include:

  • Improper refund substitution
  • Misleading refund policies
  • Unjust enrichment
  • Consumer protection violations

Signs You May Be Affected

  • You expected a cash refund from a travel platform.
  • You received credit instead.
  • The credit expired quickly or was difficult to use.
  • The hotel, airline, or rental company had already authorized a refund.
