Slim CD, Inc. (“Slim CD”) handles electronic payments, including credit card payments for merchants based in the United States and Canada. On or about June 15, 2024, Slim CD became aware of suspicious activity in its computer network. It subsequently launched an investigation, where Slim CD discovered that a cybercriminal had gained access to its network between August 17, 2023, and June 15, 2024. Specifically, Slim CD reports that the unauthorized user viewed and/or obtained consumer credit card information on June 14, 2024, and June 15, 2024. The private information compromised in the data breach includes full names, addresses, credit card numbers, and credit card expiration dates.

Slim CD recently sent notification to affected consumers informing them of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Slim CD data breach, in previous cyber-attacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
