Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating various companies for defective glass doors on various oven models. Hundreds of reports from the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission state that the glass panel on the door of their oven spontaneously shattered or exploded, leading to injuries and damage. Some consumers report that the glass panel broke during use, while others state that the panel shattered when the oven was not in use, or even hot or warm from prior use. Several consumers have paid out-of-pocket for oven repairs, as various companies have failed to cover the cost of the shattered glass, even for many appliances under warranty.

Rather than issue a recall, various companies continue to sell their ovens for anywhere between $1,000 and $2,500, opting instead to replace units after they’ve exhibited the defect, rather than preemptively inspecting them. Affected owners have been shocked not only by the noise produced when the glass shatters, which has been likened to a small bomb, but also by the pieces of glass that could have seriously injured children and pets.
