23andMe Data Breach Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating the 23andMe data breach involving the personal information of allegedly ten million accounts.

23andMe offers consumers genetic testing services. On October 5, 2023, 23andMe became aware of unauthorized entry into a large number of customer accounts; the actors who gained entry obtained customer data. Impacted customer information includes full names, usernames, profile photos, sex, date of birth, genetic ancestry results, geographical location, haplogroup details, phenotype information, photographs, and most concerningly, raw data profiles.

The news about the stolen information became public when the hacker posted an alleged sample of 10 million accounts’ data for sale on a cybercrime forum. 23andMe has confirmed the legitimacy of this data.
