Fairfax Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery Data Breach Investigation

Fairfax Oral & Maxillofacial data breach investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Fairfax Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery data breach investigation, for a data breach of over 200,000 individuals’ personal information.  On or around May 16, 2023, an unauthorized third party breached Fairfax Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery’s computer system, stealing individuals’ personal information, including their names, Social Security Number, Driver’s license information, health insurance information, and medical information (e.g., medical record number, account number, and diagnostic code). Fairfax Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery recently began informing individuals of this breach on August 18, 2023, through a written notification letter. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
