Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating Diligent Corporation (“Diligent”) for an apparent failure to safeguard individual information in a data breach. On or around May 23, 2022, Diligent discovered an unauthorized actor had stolen data from its systems. It conducted an investigation and concluded that the data had been stolen sometime around May 21, 2022. It has not yet reported what data has been stolen, but criminals often target large databases containing sensitive personal information such as Social Security Numbers (SSNs).
The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised consumer information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
