Data Breach Investigation of Leaked Magento Payment Platform Customer Information

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating a massive data breach involving over 500 e-commerce stores running the Magento 1 payment platform. An investigation concluded that a MageCart malware attack employed on a massive scale to “skim” credit card numbers and other payment details from online retailers. Some of the retailers affected by the attack include:

• Pro Wrestling Tees
• Segway
• Claire’s
• Focus Camera
• Paper Source
• Tupperware
• Smith & Wesson
• Macy’s

When hackers target service and retail websites, these criminals can acquire and sell customer information such as credit card numbers, personal identifiers, and other important identifying information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have been forced to spend money on credit monitoring services or unapproved fraudulent purchases. Some customers may have noticed one or more of the following types of fraudulent activity related to the information they inputted on retailers’ websites: suspicious credit card charges, credit card applications, and/or loans in an individual’s name.

Are you or have you been a customer of a Magento 1 payment platform retail website who has seen fraudulent activity in your accounts or received a data breach notification letter?

If so, we would like to hear from you. Please complete the questionnaire below, send us an email at [email protected], or give us a call at (202) 470-3520.
