Hospital “Facility Fees” Charged for Telehealth Visits: Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating hospital “facility fees” charged for doctor visits or consultations conducted over Zoom or other telecommunication services. Due to the continued outbreak, telehealth options have provided patients with ways to consult with their doctor without needing to step foot in a public area where their risk of exposure to COVID-19 may be high, such as a hospital or doctor’s office. Unfortunately for patients and their healthcare costs, opting for the telehealth option has not shielded them from being charged for facility fees. Even though they do not step onto a medical facility, patients have still been charged facility fees because doctors take the call from their office or hospital.
