Red Dog Mine Pollution Class Action Investigation
Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating potential claims arising from environmental degradation in the Alaskan villages of Kotzebue and Kivalina. According to the latest Toxics Release Inventory data from the Environmental Protection Agency, Kotzebue was the most toxic community in America. Similarly affected is the town of Kivalina, located 82 miles north of Kotzebue, and which is closer to the source of the emissions: the Red Dog Mine. Over 750 million pounds of toxic chemicals have been released into the environment of Kotzebue, threatening its residents. The emissions consist of lead, cadmium, and mercury, all of which are toxic to humans, and can be absorbed by the plants and animals used by subsistence hunters.
