Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, PC (“LIPSG”), the parent company of New York Surgical Group, recently reported that it had suffered a data breach. Specifically, LIPSG stated that a cybercriminal had stolen the personally identifiable information of its patients contained within LIPSG’s network between January 4, 2024, and January 8, 2024. The compromised information includes the following sensitive data:
- full names
- Social Security numbers
- dates of birth
- driver’s license numbers
- state identification numbers
- passport numbers
- financial account information
- biometric information
- medical information
- clinical photographs
- health insurance policy information

Long Island Plastic Surgical Group, PC recently posted notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the LIPSG data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
