Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the FloridaCentral Credit Union Data Breach Investigation that affected an undetermined number of individuals and their personal information.
FloridaCentral Credit Union (“FloridaCentral”) discovered unusual activity in an employee’s email account. After launching an investigation, FloridaCentral learned that a cybercriminal had gained access to the personally identifiable information of its consumers contained within the employee’s email account from April 2, 2024, to April 4, 2024. The private information compromised in the data breach includes but is not limited to full names and Social Security Numbers.
FloridaCentral Credit Union Data Breach
FloridaCentral Credit Union recently sent notification to affected consumers informing them of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the FloridaCentral data breach, in previous cyber-attacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
