Generic Mucinex Benzene Contamination Investigation

Mucinex Benzene Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod is currently investigating various generic brands of the medicine Mucinex for benzene contamination. Bloomberg News is reporting that the generic brands of the drug are laced with benzene, a cancer causing chemical.

Generic Mucinex Containing Benzene

The generic version of Mucinex sold by Target, Walgreens, Walmart, and CVS uses benzene as a slow-release compound for the active ingredients in the medicine. All four of these chains source their generic Mucinex from a single company based in New Jersey. That company, Amnael Pharmaceuticals, is now under intense scrutiny for the decision to include benzene in the knock-off product. The brand name Mucinex medicine made by British pharmaceuticals company Reckitt Benckiser uses the powder carbomer as a slow release ingredient.

Valisure, a laboratory registered with the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) notes that Benzene has been determined to not only cause cancer, but also poses a significant threat to marine ecosystems and U.S waterways from which we get our drinking water. The fact that there is any amount of benzene in medicines presents a danger to the individual consumer and the public at large. Migliaccio & Rathod wants to hold these companies accountable for the dangerous toxins they have carelessly included in their generic drugs.

Benzene is an extremely dangerous chemical and should not be consumed by humans. If you have taken any of these generic brand Mucinex knock-offs that contain benzene, you could be at elevated risk of cancer.
