Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating El Centro del Barrio d/b/a CentroMed, for a data breach of over 350,000 individuals’ personal information. On or around June 9, 2023 an unauthorized third party breached CentroMed’s computer system, stealing individuals’ personal information, including their names, Social Security Number, date of birth, home mailing address, financial account information, medical records number, health insurance plan member ID, and claims data (including diagnoses listed on claims). CentroMed recently began informing individuals of this breach on August 11, 2023, through a written notification letter. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
