Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating Pepsi Bottling Ventures LLC for a data breach of over 28,000 customers’ personal information. On December 23, 2022, an unauthorized third party breached Pepsi’s computer system, stealing customer’s personal information, including an individual’s first and last name, address, Social Security number, driver’s license and passport information, digital signatures, and dates of birth. Pepsi Bottling Ventures recently began informing customers of this breach in June 2023 through a written notification letter.
All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
