Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating the University of Colorado Hospital Authority (“UCHealth”) for an apparent failure to safeguard sensitive patient information in a data breach. The breach occurred through UCHealth’s data security services provider, Diligent. UCHealth recently discovered that patients’ identifiable and protected personal and health information may have been accessed and acquired by cybercriminals. This information may have included patients’ names, addresses, dates of birth, Social Security numbers, certain financial information, and certain medical information.
The cybercriminals responsible for the breach may have already obtained and sold the compromised patient information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, medical and/or government services ordered in their name, or their information being posted on the dark web.
Have you recently received a data breach notification from UCHealth?
