Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating a recent data breach at Sequoia One (“Sequoia”), an HR company, for a recent data breach. Sequioa One provides payroll and other services to many tech start-ups. As a result, it likely contained in its data banks personal identifying information of thousands of employees.
From September 22, 2022, to October 6, 2022, someone unknown, and unauthorized, gained access to Sequoia’s system. This unknown person (or persons) gained access to a breathtaking array of personal data, including: names, addresses, dates of birth, gender, marital status, employment status, Social Security numbers (SSNs), work email addresses, wage data related to benefits, and member IDs as well as any other ID cards, Covid-19 test results, and vaccine cards that individuals uploaded to the employment system.
Victims of data breaches are often targeted for identity theft. They may have their tax return stolen, be the victims of bank fraud, have credit cards opened in their name, or otherwise be targeted.
