Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating the mortgage lending company LendUS for failing to safeguard sensitive customer and employee information in a data breach that occurred sometime between February and March of 2021. The data breach occurred when hackers accessed LendUS Employee email accounts, compromising the information of over 12,000 customers and employees. An investigation by LendUS determined that the information compromised included: Social Security numbers, driver’s license numbers, financial and payment information, passport numbers, tax identification numbers, medical and health insurance information, and online account credentials.
When hackers target service and retail websites such as LendUS, these criminals can acquire and sell customer information such as credit card numbers, personal identifiers, and other important identifying information. In previous data breaches, victims of data theft have been forced to spend money on credit monitoring services or other fraudulent charges. Some customers and employees may have noticed one or more of the following types of fraudulent activity related to the information they inputted on the LendUS website: suspicious credit card charges, credit card applications, and/or loans in an individual’s name.
Are you or have you been a LendUS customer or employee who has seen fraudulent activity in your accounts or received a data breach notification letter from LendUS?
If so, we would like to hear from you. Please complete the questionnaire below, send us an email at [email protected], or give us a call at (202) 470-3520.
