Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating Volkswagen of America for a coolant leak defect in their 2015-2019 Volkswagen Golf GTI vehicles with the EA888 Rev3 engine. Golf GTI owners report that coolant will seep out of a weep hole on the underside of the thermostat housing, often at such a slow pace that they do not notice the issue until it poses a serious danger to the functioning of their vehicle. Many times, the only indicator of the coolant leak issue is a vague smell outside the vehicle, prompting owners to take their vehicles in for service. Unfortunately, Volkswagen service centers are often unable to confirm the presence of a leak, even after a pressure test. This leaves owners little choice but to tolerate the defect and hope it does not lead to a later catastrophic engine failure event. This holds especially true for owners on the verge of their powertrain warranty’s expiration, who would then be responsible for hundreds, if not thousands of dollars’ worth of out-of-pocket repair expenses.
Are you the owner of a 2015-2019 Golf GTI (w/ the EA888 Rev3 engine) that has experienced a coolant leak? Or do you fear your vehicle has manifested or later will manifest the defect, but have no way to verify its existence?
If so, we would like to speak with you. Please complete the questionnaire below, send us an email to [email protected], or call us at (202) 470-3520.
