Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is currently investigating New High-Tech Enterprise Company (NHT) for fire hazards related to the charging and use of their X1-5 Hoverboards. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has warned the public that the X1-5 Hoverboard’s lithium ion battery is prone to overheating, “posing a fire risk that can lead to smoke inhalation or serious injuries, including death.” CPSC notes that although the X1-5 bears the Underwriter Laboratories (UL) mark, granted to products tested by the electronics safety certification company, the X1-5 is no longer UL-listed and fails to meet their safety standards. CPSC has requested that NHT recall the dangerous product; the company refused, and has not cooperated with CPSC’s efforts to protect public well-being.
