Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Lite Walmart Refund Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating whether consumers who purchased Ridstar Q20 or Q20 Lite electric bicycles through Walmart have been left without a meaningful refund after federal safety officials instructed owners to stop using certain Ridstar e-bikes.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has issued multiple warnings involving Ridstar Q20-family e-bikes.

In March 2026, CPSC warned consumers to stop using certain Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Pro e-bikes because of battery and wiring problems that could create a fire hazard. The agency reported 11 fires, including a burn injury, five reports of smoke inhalation, and more than $40,000 in property damage.

Then, in June 2026, CPSC issued another warning involving Ridstar Q20 and Q20 Lite e-bikes, this time because the front wheel could detach without warning. CPSC reported 32 wheel-detachment incidents and 31 injuries, including concussions and broken bones. The agency instructed consumers to stop using the affected bicycles and dispose of the entire bike.

CPSC also stated that the manufacturer had not provided an acceptable recall remedy.

Walmart Purchasers Report:

  • buying Ridstar Q20 or Q20 Lite e-bikes through Walmart Marketplace;
  • front wheels becoming loose or detaching;
  • learning about the CPSC warning only after purchasing the bike;
  • being instructed by federal safety officials to stop using and dispose of the bicycle;
  • contacting Walmart or the Marketplace seller for a refund;
  • being referred back and forth between Walmart and the third-party seller;
  • refund requests being denied because the purchase occurred too long ago; and
  • being left with an e-bike that they have been told not to use or resell.

Why We Are Investigating Walmart Purchases

Consumers who purchased these products may now possess an electric bicycle that federal safety officials have instructed them not to use.

Where the manufacturer provides no acceptable recall remedy, purchasers may reasonably expect the retailer or marketplace through which the transaction occurred to provide an appropriate solution.

Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether Walmart Marketplace purchasers of affected Ridstar bicycles have been systematically denied full refunds or otherwise left bearing the financial loss associated with an unusable product.

The precise seller shown on the Walmart order is important because some Ridstar products were sold through third-party Marketplace sellers rather than directly by Walmart.

Potential Claims May Include:

  • unfair or deceptive trade practices;
  • breach of warranty;
  • sale of products that cannot safely be used for their intended purpose;
  • failure to provide an adequate remedy following a federal safety warning; and
  • economic damages based on the purchase price of an unusable product.

  • You purchased a Ridstar Q20 or Q20 Lite electric bicycle through Walmart or Walmart.com;
  • your bicycle falls within a CPSC stop-use warning;
  • you were instructed to stop riding or dispose of the bicycle;
  • Walmart or the Marketplace seller denied your request for a full refund;
  • you were told that the normal return period had expired;
  • you were referred between Walmart and Ridstar without receiving a remedy; or
  • you still have your Walmart order information showing the seller, purchase price, model, and purchase date.
