Yamaha Golf Car Accelerator Return Spring Recall Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating whether certain Yamaha golf car owners and fleet operators suffered additional losses after having an earlier accelerator return spring recall repair performed, only to later be told that the vehicle needed another repair for the same safety-related problem.

This investigation is focused on owners of Yamaha golf cars affected by the company’s accelerator return spring recalls, including consumers whose vehicles had already received a prior recall repair before Yamaha and the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission later instructed them to stop using the golf car again.

The 2025 expanded recall involved approximately 352,000 golf cars, and Yamaha had reportedly received at least 2,200 reports of accelerator return spring failures. Most importantly, CPSC specifically instructed consumers to stop using affected vehicles even if they had already been repaired under earlier recalls.

Consumers May Have Experienced:

  • completing an earlier Yamaha accelerator return spring recall repair;
  • believing the safety problem had been corrected;
  • later receiving another stop-use or recall notice involving the same general issue;
  • having to return the golf car to a dealer a second time;
  • losing use of the vehicle while waiting for another repair;
  • paying transportation, pickup, delivery, or substitute-vehicle expenses;
  • businesses or fleet operators experiencing downtime across multiple golf cars; or
  • a previously repaired accelerator system failing again.

For consumers who already complied with the first recall, being told to stop using the vehicle again may create additional expenses and inconvenience that were not addressed by the original repair.

Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether owners and fleet operators who underwent more than one recall-related repair suffered uncompensated losses as a result.

Potential Claims May Include:

  • breach of warranty;
  • failure to provide an effective recall remedy;
  • unfair or deceptive trade practices;
  • economic losses associated with repeated repairs;
  • transportation or substitute-vehicle expenses; and
  • loss-of-use damages where available.

Signs You May Be Affected:

  • You own or operated a Yamaha golf car covered by the accelerator return spring recalls;
  • you had an earlier recall repair completed;
  • you were later told that the vehicle needed another repair;
  • you were instructed to stop using the golf car even though it had already been repaired;
  • you incurred transportation, rental, substitute-vehicle, or downtime costs; or
  • you operate a golf-course, resort, community, business, or other fleet with multiple affected Yamaha golf cars.

If your Yamaha golf car was previously repaired under an accelerator return spring recall and later required another repair, we would like to hear from you.
