Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports that certain Weber SmokeFire EX4 and EX6 pellet grills may experience recurring pellet-feed problems that cause the fire to unexpectedly go out, temperatures to fall, or large amounts of unburned pellets to accumulate inside the grill.
Weber SmokeFire grills are designed to automatically move wood pellets from the hopper into the burn area as needed to maintain the selected cooking temperature. Some owners, however, have reported that pellets can become stuck or stop feeding properly—a problem sometimes described as “pellet bridging.”
When that happens, the fire may go out in the middle of a cook. In some cases, owners report that the grill continues attempting to operate, potentially resulting in unburned pellets accumulating in or around the burn pot.
Consumers Report:
- pellets becoming stuck or “bridging” in the hopper;
- the fire unexpectedly going out during cooking;
- temperatures dropping or becoming unstable;
- auger or pellet-feed problems;
- large amounts of unburned pellets accumulating in the burn pot;
- abnormal or smoky shutdowns;
- replacement of augers, motors, pellet slides, glow plugs, or chute components; and
- the same problem continuing even after updated replacement parts were installed.
The reports include both earlier Weber SmokeFire units and Gen-2 models containing updated components, raising questions about whether some consumers continued experiencing feed-system problems despite receiving revised parts.
Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether Weber SmokeFire’s hopper, chute, auger, or inclined pellet-feed system may allow pellets or pellet dust to stop feeding reliably and whether affected owners received an effective repair.
Potential Claims May Include:
- defective pellet-feed system design;
- defective hopper, chute, auger, or related components;
- breach of express or implied warranty;
- failure to provide an effective repair for recurring problems;
- failure to adequately disclose recurring pellet-feed failures; and
- unfair or deceptive trade practices.
Signs You May Be Affected:
- You own or previously owned a Weber SmokeFire EX4 or EX6;
- pellets repeatedly became stuck or failed to feed properly;
- your grill’s flame went out unexpectedly during cooking;
- you discovered substantial amounts of unburned pellets in the burn pot;
- Weber replaced your auger, motor, chute, pellet slide, or another feed-system component;
- the problem continued after updated replacement components were installed; or
- repeated flameouts or pellet-feed failures made the grill unreliable or difficult to use.
