Whill Model C2 Steering and Control Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports that certain Whill Model C2 power wheelchairs may experience steering, joystick, or electronic-control problems that can make the chair difficult to maneuver or cause it to behave unexpectedly.

The Whill Model C2 is an electronic mobility chair designed to provide users with precise maneuverability in both indoor and outdoor environments. Consumers who depend on the chair for everyday mobility may reasonably expect it to respond consistently to their steering commands.

Reports involving the Whill Model C2, however, raise concerns about unexpected steering behavior, control problems, and difficulties maintaining the intended direction of travel.

Consumers Report:

  • difficulty steering the chair in the intended direction;
  • unexpected pulling or changes in direction;
  • joystick or controller problems;
  • inconsistent responses to steering commands;
  • difficulty maneuvering safely in tight spaces;
  • electronic or control-system problems requiring service; and
  • continuing problems even after adjustments or repairs.

Unexpected steering behavior can be especially concerning for wheelchair users navigating doorways, sidewalks, ramps, crowded areas, or other locations where precise control is important.

Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether affected Whill Model C2 chairs share a common problem involving the joystick, controller, steering system, software, or other electronic components.

Potential Claims May Include:

  • defective steering or control-system design;
  • defective electronic components;
  • software or controller defects;
  • breach of express or implied warranty;
  • failure to provide an effective repair; and
  • unfair or deceptive trade practices.

Signs You May Be Affected:

  • You own or previously owned a Whill Model C2;
  • your chair unexpectedly pulls or turns in a direction you did not command;
  • the chair does not consistently respond to joystick movements;
  • you have difficulty maintaining a straight path;
  • the joystick, controller, or another electronic component required repair or replacement; or
  • steering problems continued or returned after service.
