Velcro® HANGables® Picture Hanging Products Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports that Velcro® HANGables® Picture Hanging Products may fail to securely support framed artwork, mirrors, and other mounted household items despite consumers following the manufacturer’s installation instructions.

Velcro® HANGables® products are marketed as an alternative to nails and screws for mounting décor without damaging walls. Consumers report, however, that adhesive-backed hanging products may unexpectedly lose adhesion over time, allowing mounted items to detach from the wall without warning. Some consumers allege that failures occurred even though the mounted items complied with the advertised weight ratings and the installation instructions were carefully followed.

What Consumers Report

Consumers report:

  • Mounted frames unexpectedly falling from the wall.
  • Adhesive losing strength after ordinary indoor use.
  • Damage to artwork, mirrors, glass frames, and household décor.
  • Paint or drywall damage after adhesive failure.
  • Adhesive releasing despite remaining within the advertised weight capacity.
  • Similar failures after replacing the adhesive products.
  • Concerns regarding the long-term reliability of the adhesive system.

Why Consumers Should Be Concerned

Consumers purchase adhesive hanging products because they expect the products to safely support household decorations without requiring nails or screws. They also rely upon the advertised weight capacities when selecting an appropriate hanging solution.

If adhesive performance degrades under ordinary residential conditions despite proper installation, consumers may unknowingly expose valuable artwork and household items to unnecessary damage. Unexpected adhesive failures may also create safety concerns where heavy mirrors or framed artwork fall into occupied living spaces.

This investigation seeks to determine whether certain Velcro® HANGables® products may suffer from adhesive performance issues that prevent them from performing as advertised.
