On October 11, 2024, BayMark Health Services, Inc. (“BayMark“) learned of a disruption in some of its IT systems. BayMark subsequently launched an investigation, which uncovered that a cybercriminal had stolen files containing the personally identifiable information of BayMark patients contained therein between September 24, 2024, and October 14, 2024. Specifically, the compromised information includes, but is not limited to, the following sensitive data:
- full names
- dates of birth
- Social Security numbers
- driver’s license numbers
- services received
- dates of service
- insurance information
- identification of treating provider
- treatment information
- diagnostic information
BayMark Health Services, Inc. Data Breach
BayMark recently sent notice of the data breach to impacted parties. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the BayMark Health Services, Inc. data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
