Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Schneider Electric data breach investigation, for a data breach that affected approximately 400,000 rows of critical user data and project information.
Schneider Electric confirmed that they had been targeted in a ransomware attack in November of 2024. The incident apparently occurred sometime in January of 2024. The hackers posted the stolen data online after the company reporedly refused to pay a ransom demand. On December 29, 2024, it was confirmed that the data stolen in the data breach had been posted on the dark web. It is unclear exactly what data was disclosed to the hackers, though it is reported to be more than forty gigabytes of data and supposedly includes over 400,000 rows of data, much of which is customer information. While we are not certain exactly what data was involved, the Schneider Electric data breach appears to be a large.
The Schneider Electric Data Breach Investigation
Schneider Electric confirmed that customer data had been posted online on or around December 29, 2024. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Schneider Electric data breach, in previous data breaches, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
