Pangram AI Detector Automatic Renewal Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating Pangram Labs’ AI Detector over concerns that consumers may not have received legally required notices before their subscriptions are automatically renewed.

According to Pangram Labs’ Terms of Service, subscribers are automatically charged when their subscriptions are renewed and must cancel before their renewal date to avoid additional charges.

California’s Automatic Renewal Law generally requires companies offering covered annual memberships to notify consumers between 15 and 45 days before renewal. The notice must include important information about the renewal, including the charges and how to cancel.

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating whether Pangram Labs adequately notified subscribers before renewing their subscriptions, as required under California’s Automatic Renewal Law.

Consumers May Have Experienced:

  • Automatic renewal charges without receiving the required advance renewal notice;
  • Renewal notices that failed to clearly disclose subscription costs or cancellation instructions;
  • Unexpected charges for another annual subscription period;
  • Difficulty identifying when their subscription would renew;
  • Continued subscription charges despite intending to cancel before renewal.

Potential Claims May Include:

  • Violations of California’s Automatic Renewal Law;
  • Violations of California’s Unfair Competition Law;
  • Unfair or deceptive membership billing practices;
  • Restitution or unjust enrichment arising from allegedly improper renewal charges.

Signs You May Be Affected:

  • You purchased a paid Pangram AI Detector subscription that automatically renews;
  • You live in California or another state with automatic renewal protections;
  • Your annual subscription renewed without receiving a required advance notice;
  • You received a renewal notice that did not clearly explain the renewal charges or how to cancel;
  • You were charged for an additional subscription period that you did not intend to purchase.
