Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating potential automatic renewal and cancellation issues affecting New Scientist print and digital magazine subscribers.
Consumers have reported unexpected subscription renewals, difficulty cancelling memberships online, and charges following discounted introductory offers. In one complaint, a customer reported that a discounted subscription converted into a plan costing approximately $55 every three months without adequate renewal notice. When she attempted to cancel, New Scientist’s subscription-management website allegedly failed to recognize her account information.
Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether New Scientist failed to provide adequate renewal notices, maintained cancellation procedures that prevented consumers from terminating their subscriptions, or improperly charged customers for unwanted renewals.
