Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports of potential CO Shield nuisance shutdowns affecting Champion 6500W Dual Fuel Inverter Generators, including Model 201532.
Champion 6500W Model 201532 includes the company’s CO Shield carbon monoxide monitoring system. This safety system is intended to automatically shut down the generator when potentially dangerous carbon monoxide conditions are detected.
However, owners have reported repeated CO-related shutdowns while operating the generator outdoors, including a report involving approximately ten shutdowns during four hours of operation. Pasted markdown
Migliaccio & Rathod is investigating whether certain Champion 6500W generators contain CO sensors, calibration, or related control components that may falsely detect unsafe conditions during normal outdoor use and repeatedly disable the generator.
The investigation concerns potential false or malfunction-related shutdowns during proper outdoor operation, rather than shutdowns caused by actual unsafe carbon monoxide accumulation.
Owners May Have Experienced:
- Repeated CO Shield shutdowns while operating outdoors;
- Multiple shutdowns during a single period of generator use;
- A CO warning despite following outdoor-placement instructions;
- Difficulty restarting the generator after a CO Shield shutdown;
- Replacement or servicing of the CO monitoring system; or
- Being unable to reliably use the generator for backup power.
Potential Claims May Include:
- Defective CO sensor or monitoring components;
- Defective sensor calibration;
- Breach of express or implied warranties;
- Failure to provide an effective repair;
- Loss of use or diminished product value; and
- Violations of applicable consumer-protection laws.
Signs You May Be Affected:
- You own a Champion 6500W Model 201532 Dual Fuel Inverter Generator;
- Your generator repeatedly activates CO Shield while outdoors;
- The generator shuts down despite following Champion’s placement instructions;
- The problem occurs repeatedly during the same use period;
- Your generator required CO-system service or repair; or
- CO Shield shutdowns prevented you from using the generator for backup power.
