Pride Mobility / Quantum Rehab Right-to-Repair Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating whether Pride Mobility Products and Quantum Rehab improperly restrict wheelchair users and independent repair professionals from diagnosing, programming, repairing, or returning powered wheelchairs to service by limiting access to essential software, firmware, parts, and electronic service tools.

What Consumers Report

Wheelchair users and repair professionals report:

  • Being unable to access programming software needed to adjust or repair powered wheelchairs.
  • Waiting weeks or months for an authorized technician.
  • Being unable to pair or configure replacement controllers, joysticks, or other electronic components.
  • Paying substantial charges for repairs that require only brief software access.
  • Losing mobility while waiting for replacement parts or authorized service.
  • Being unable to use an independent repair provider.
  • Receiving limited information about repair restrictions before obtaining the wheelchair.
  • Experiencing delays that leave users confined to bed or unable to work, attend school, or complete daily activities.

Why Consumers Should Be Concerned

Powered wheelchairs are essential mobility devices, not optional consumer products. A software lockout or unavailable replacement component can leave a user without safe transportation, independence, or access to employment and medical care.

Consumers may reasonably expect qualified independent repairers to be able to service equipment they own. If Pride Mobility or Quantum Rehab restricts access to programming tools, firmware, parts, or controller-pairing functions, users may be forced into a limited authorized service network and face extended, potentially dangerous repair delays.

Potential Claims May Include

  • Unfair and deceptive trade practices
  • Consumer protection violations
  • State right-to-repair law violations
  • Failure to disclose material repair restrictions
  • Breach of express warranty
  • Breach of implied warranty
  • Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act violations
  • Unlawful repair-service tying
  • Monopolization or attempted monopolization
  • Disability-rights claims where applicable

Signs You May Be Affected

You may be affected if:

  • You use a Pride Mobility or Quantum Rehab powered wheelchair.
  • Your wheelchair remained unusable while waiting for authorized service.
  • An independent technician could not access required programming software.
  • A replacement joystick, controller, motor, or electronic component required authorized setup.
  • You paid out-of-pocket repair, transportation, rental, or caregiver costs.
  • You were unable to work, attend school, or leave home because of repair delays.
  • You were told that only an authorized provider could complete the repair.
