Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating reports that certain Volkswagen Jetta vehicles experience technical issues when making hands-free phone calls using Apple CarPlay.
Consumers report that when making a hands-free phone call on CarPlay with an Apple device, the party receiving the call will hear a persistent echo whenever the caller speaks. Publicly available technical service materials explain that Apple CarPlay works with a sampling frequency that is inconsistent with the frequency supported by many vehicles’ infotainment systems. Later versions of the infotainment system appear to have resolved the issue. However, this version is not available in all model years, and some newer vehicles may still include the older version.
This investigation is examining whether Volkswagen adequately disclosed these alleged defects and whether affected consumers may be entitled to compensation, repairs, or warranty-related relief.
Potentially Affected Vehicles
Potentially impacted vehicles may include:
- 2018 – 2025 Volkswagen Jetta
- Related Volkswagen vehicles utilizing similar infotainment systems
Warranty & Consumer Protection Considerations
The investigation is examining whether Volkswagen’s alleged conduct may violate warranty laws, consumer-protection statutes, or deceptive-trade-practice laws relating to vehicle reliability and defect disclosures.
