REI Co-op Warranty Investigation

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is investigating REI Co-op following reports that consumers were denied warranty or return coverage that was previously advertised as part of REI’s lifetime satisfaction guarantee and Co-op membership benefits.

Reported Issues:

Consumers report:

  • That REI promoted a lifetime satisfaction guarantee allowing returns at any time for any reason, which influenced their decision to pay the Co-op membership fee
  • That REI later shortened return and warranty coverage to just one year, including for products that were purchased when the lifetime coverage was advertised and guaranteed
  • That REI has denied repairs, replacements, or refunds for product defects that previously would have been covered under the satisfaction guarantee
  • They paid higher prices for a membership fee in reliance on REI’s guarantee of lifetime satisfaction and warranty coverage
