Muscogee County School District Data Breach Investigation

On or about December 26, 2024, Muscogee County School District (MCSD) detected suspicious activity in its network. MCSD conducted an investigation and determined that an unknown third party accessed their computer network between December 12, 2024 and December 26, 2024, potentially giving them access to personal information. Muscogee County School District provided notice to affected individuals on August 14, 2025. The impacted data includes the following sensitive information:

  • Names
  • Social Security numbers
  • Financial account numbers & routing numbers

The Muscogee County School District recently provided notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Muscogee County School District data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
