On July 11, 2024, now former vendor of Select Medical Holdings, Inc., Nationwide Recovery Services, Inc. (“NRS”), discovered suspicious activity on its computer systems which resulted in a network outage. NRS launched an investigation to determine the nature and scope of the breach. The forensic investigation confirmed that the unauthorized access occurred between July 5, 2024 through July 11, 2024. NRS’ review of compromised files was completed on February 3, 2025. Affected consumers were not notified of the Select Medical Holdings, Inc. data breach until June 6, 2025. Select Medical Holdings, Inc. discovered that hackers were able to compromise a significant amount of personal information. The compromised information includes a variety of highly sensitive details including:

- Social security numbers

Select Medical Holdings, Inc. informed the Maine State Attorney General’s office of the breach, where a copy of the consumer notification letter can be found. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims.
