Toyota Motor Credit Corporation, which is a subsidiary of Toyota Financial Service International Corporation (“Toyota Financial Services”) provides financing options to car purchasers and leasers. In addition to this, it provides some financial services to dealerships as well. Toyota Financial Services noticed suspicious activity on its computer network on or around February 7, 2025. After investigating, the company determined that the “inadvertent exposure” of certain personal information stored on its system had occurred. The compromised information possibly includes the following sensitive data:

Toyota Financial Services recently provided notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Toyota Financial Services data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
