Pennsylvania State Education Association Data Breach

Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Pennsylvania State Education Association Data Breach Investigation for a data breach that affected an 517,487 individuals and their personal information.

In October of 2024 a malicious party began exploiting  vulnerability in third-party software used by  Pennsylvania State Education Association. On July 6, 2024, Pennsylvania State Education Association learned of a security incident that impacted their network. Pennsylvania State Education Association subsequently conducted an investigation. The investigation concluded on February 18, 2025, and uncovered that a cybercriminal had stolen the files containing the personally identifiable information of its consumers stored therein, including the following:

  • full names
  • Date of Birth,
  • Driver’s License or State ID,
  • Social Security Number,
  • Account Number,
  • Account PIN,
  • Security Code,
  • Password and Routing Number,
  • Payment Card Number,
  • Payment Card
    PIN and Payment Card Expiration Date,
  • Passport Number,
  • Taxpayer ID Number,
  • Username and
    Password,
  • Health Insurance Information, and
  • Medical Information

Pennsylvania State Education Association Bank Data Breach

Pennsylvania State Education Association recently provided notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Pennsylvania State Education Association data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
