Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the Allegheny Health Network Data Breach Investigation, regarding a breach that impacted approximately 293,900 individuals and their personal information.
On January 17, 2025, Allegheny Health Network (“AHN”) announced that IntraSystems, LLC, an IT vendor responsible for hosting, managing, and securing certain computer systems that support AHN’s subsidiary Home Medical Equipment and Home Infusion companies, experienced a data breach. During the data security incident, a cybercriminal gained access to the personally identifiable information of AHN patients contained within the affected computer systems from October 11, 2024 through November 19, 2024. Specifically, the compromised information includes, but is not limited to, the following sensitive data:
- full names
- dates of birth
- Social Security numbers
- financial account numbers
- health insurance identification numbers
- other health insurance information
- treatment information
- diagnoses
- provider information
- procedures
- dates of service
- prescription information
- medical device serial numbers
Allegheny Health Network Data Breach
AHN recently posted notice of the data breach to its website. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Allegheny Health Network data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
