Migliaccio & Rathod LLP is involved in the BronxWorks Data Breach Investigation that affected an undetermined number of individuals and their personal information.
On an unspecified date, BronxWorks discovered that an unauthorized party accessed certain employee email accounts. BronxWorks subsequently conducted an investigation, which uncovered that hacker gained access to several employee email accounts and documents stored within its SharePoint and OneDrive platforms between September 1, 2023, and October 11, 2023. A further review determined a portion of the emails, attachments, and files viewed and/or stolen by the cybercriminal contained the personally identifiable information of some of its clients. The compromised information includes the following sensitive data:
- Social Security numbers
- dates of birth
- passport numbers
- digital signatures
- medical information
- health insurance information
- financial account information
- driver’s license numbers
- state identification card numbers
- tax identification numbers
- passport numbers
BronxWorks Data Breach
BronxWorks recently posted notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the BronxWorks data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
