On April 7, 2024, Autobell discovered unauthorized activity on its computer networks and systems. A subsequent investigation determined that Autobell had fallen victim to a data breach. As a result, Autobell reports that to protect the personally identifiable information of its estimated 52,714 customers. Autobell has not yet divulged exactly what type of personally identifiable information of its customers were stolen during the data breach.

Autobell is a large car wash business operating primarily in the South, with locations in the Carolinas, Virginia, Maryland, and Delaware.
Autobell recently posted notice of the data breach. All of the information stolen is likely valuable and dangerous to affected victims. As is likely to be the case with the Autobell data breach, in previous cyberattacks, victims of data theft have noticed identity theft attempts ranging from fraudulent charges on bank accounts or credit cards, to unauthorized credit card applications, to medical services or government services ordered in their name, to their information being posted on the dark web, to a massive uptick in the number of spam text messages, calls and emails received.
